So let’s go over the new trends and discuss how to make them work for our Type 2 nature.
1. Boho Chic
Boho Chic takes the free-spirited, flowing lines of bohemian style that has been around for decades and adds a modern twist making it wearable for the everyday woman. Similar to the “Girlcore” trend we saw in the spring this trend pulls on the feminine energy with added details seen in frills, lace, and ruffles, but goes more textured and earthy. A lot of layering in clothing and jewelry, as well as combinations of textures and patterns. This one is all about the unconventional, artistic aesthetic with artful and eclectic prints. Flowing design lines are front and center featuring billowing dresses and trousers, and bell sleeves. While we typically see more of a rich earthy shades to capture this mood, you can bring it into your look with any color of your Type. Be creative and carefree with this one.
Does this trend favor Type 2, and how to make it work?
- Yes! Soft lines and feminine design lines are definitely Type 2. Boho Chic often includes maxi skirts and billowing sleeves – together! That’s a lot of flowing design lines and you can wear it well. If it feels too drapey then keep the flow to either the top or the bottom of the outfit. The added textures and layers have the potential to feel heavy so keep it light-medium weight and always soft!
Any secondary Type considerations?
- Type 2/1 – Have fun with the artful, eclectic prints and whimsical, billowy design lines. Keep the textures light!
- Type 2/3 – This trend adds texture and earthiness. Experiment with more or fewer layers to see what feels right for you.
- Type 2/4 – This trend has the potential to be way too much movement for you. Try a cleaner version of an artistic print on a blouse or pick a solid color in an interesting knit texture. Choosing either pattern or texture will help limit the overall movement.
What keywords are important to remember for this trend? Flowing and Relaxed
2. Quiet Luxury
If Boho Chic has your head swirling with too many layers and textures, then Quiet Luxury is where you will want to steer. This trend highlights simplicity and timelessness. This trend’s philosophy prioritizes elevated essentials over excessive ornamentation or branding. Think “quality over quantity.” It is characterized by clean lines, understated elegance, and impeccable craftsmanship. The color palette tends to be neutral and muted, emphasizing timeless shades like black, white, beige, and navy. Quiet luxury garments often feature subtle details and high-quality materials such as cashmere, silk, organic cotton, and fine wool, which enhance both comfort and durability. It’s about effortless style, confidence, and understated elegance in every piece worn.
Does this trend favor Type 2, and how to make it work?
This trend works for Type 2, but mostly Type 2s with a secondary 4 due to the focus on clean lines and minimal movement. However, the elegance and luxury of this trend has Type 2 written all over it. Choose clothing items that have a soft fabrication and a bit of elastic to add flow to the otherwise structured design. Look for items that have just a bit of added detail – a little embroidered flower on a top, or a soft puff sleeve, or an added bow on the back of a sweater. A classic floral print will also stand the test of time! These delicate Type 2 details will add more elegance and charm. Step out the neutral color palette with a soft pastel like purple or pink to bring in more romance.
Any secondary Type considerations?
- Type 2/1 While you’ll appreciate the simplicity of this trend, but it could get a little stale for you. Bring in some animated movement with a classic Type 2 floral pattern or other subtle details, like a slight puff sleeve, a little embroidery on the top, or a bow on the back of a sweater.
- Type 2/3 You may feel bored in this style due to the lack of movement in texture and pattern. Bring in some texture in your hair or jewelry to balance the stillness created by the clothing.
- Type 2/4 This trend is speaking your language. You will look beautiful in this understated yet refined style.
What keywords are important to remember for this trend? Elegant and Poised
3. One-piece Dressing
“One-piece dressing” simplifies outfit choices by offering complete looks in a single garment. We’re talking overalls, jumpsuits, and sweater dresses. Overalls, often in denim or cotton, provide a casual, utilitarian vibe. Jumpsuits combine tops and trousers ranging from casual rompers, business wear, to elegant evening wear. Sweater dresses offer warmth and comfort with styles from mini to maxi. These pieces that can create a bold statement are also known for their effortless style and comfort!
Does this trend favor Type 2, and how to make it work?
Jumpsuits and sweater dresses are an easy yes! You can find both styles that easily complement Type 2 energy. Overalls, on the other hand, will need a little work. The traditional utilitarian overall is made in heavy fabric and has a lot of hardware that will feel heavy and cumbersome. Choose an overall made of soft fabric with stretch and has added delicate details, such as a ruffle, pleats, or more delicate hardware. The wide-leg flowy overalls that are trending are so Type 2!
Any secondary Type considerations?
- Type 2/1 – Overalls have a youthful energy so they may be right up your alley! Choose jumpsuits that are easy to get on and off or you won’t wear them! Keep the sweater dresses lighter in weight and check the sleeve length so they don’t feel cumbersome or droopy.
- Type 2/3 – You may like the added texture in the overall bib and the extra hardware. Choose a jumpsuit with added texture and design or you will feel like you’re wearing a onesie pajama. Choose sweater dresses with thicker knits. You’d look great in a sweater dress with a substantial cowl neck.
- Type 2/4 – You might feel silly in overalls and not see the “point” of them. If you’re feeling up to trying them get them in a dark denim to add more stillness to the look. You’ll appreciate the ease at getting ready when you wear a jumpsuit or a sweater dress! Follow your Type 2/4 senses and you’re sure to pick out the perfect options.

4. Camouflage and Leopard Print Patterns
Camouflage Print: Known for its rugged, military-inspired look this fall/winter trend is swapping the traditional greens and browns for unexpected color combinations.
Leopard Print: This timeless pattern is nothing new, but it’s coming back as the main attraction this fall/winter. This versatile pattern acts as both a bold statement and a neutral, pairing well with solids or other prints.
Both these prints add flair and versatility to fall and winter wardrobes, enhancing both casual and dressy outfits with their distinctive patterns.
Does this trend favor Type 2, and how to make it work?
While these prints are traditionally Type 3 patterns you can easily make them work for Type 2. A camouflage pattern easily lends itself to Type 2 movement with the soft lines and blended colors. Often times the original green camo is soft enough to work for Type 2. Use your pattern guide to make sure. Leopard print has softened lines in the patterns as well. Choose these patterns in Type 2 tones and you’ll be set!
Any secondary Type considerations?
- Type 2/1 – Have fun finding colorful combinations of these 2 patterns. Choose patterns on a medium-small scale to keep it light and animated.
- Type 2/3 – You will naturally be drawn to these dynamic patterns and enjoy wearing them in tops, bottoms and layers – just not all at the same time. 😉
- Type 2/4 – Choose these patterns in low-contrast color combinations to keep the level of movement down. Try wearing a patterned top under a jacket or cardigan if you want to minimize the movement even more.

6. Shoes – Loafers
The classic loafer is known for its casual yet stylish appearance featuring a chunky sole textured materials like suede and velvet, as well as patent leather. Embellishments such as buckles and tassels transform basic loafers into statement pieces. Classic colors like black and brown remain staples, but brighter colors and patterns like animal prints are emerging. Versatile and weather-ready designs this shoe is all about comfort and style.
Does this trend favor Type 2, and how to make it work?
Traditional loafer shoes lead with Type 3 energy with their chunky soles eccentric embellishments like gold buckles and tassels. So to make it work for Type 2 choose a loafer that has a medium to low-profile sole. You’ll feel best in an oval toe line. Choose softened leather or other materials and make sure the hardware is silver. Loafers come in all colors right now. Have fun and choose a pink, purple or green to add some color to your outfit.
Any secondary Type considerations?
- Type 2/1 – A chunky sole could feel very heavy for you, so keep it light! Have fun with the embellishments – tassels, buckles and other animated details.

7. Jewelry
Big and bold jewelry is trending this season – large button earrings (think 80s), big artistically sculpted earrings, bold cuffs and larger necklaces. Pendant necklaces emerge as a staple, with designs ranging from delicate charms to bold, oversized pendants that serve as statement pieces. Pearls maintain their time in the spotlight and are appearing in more styles and colors than ever before.
Does this trend favor Type 2, and how to make it work?
Big and bold will feel awkward and heavy. Instead, choose medium-sized version of the big jewelry. There are some lovely button earring options in the DYT store, their just quite a bit smaller than what we’re seeing on the runways! Pendant necklaces are a great way to add detail to a simple top. And pearls are forever our Type 2 friends! I’m so glad they’re still here to play!
