Minimal Makeup
Minimal makeup focuses on enhancing natural features with a light touch and simple products. It involves using lightweight foundation for a natural finish, grooming brows without heavy filling, applying subtle eye makeup with neutral tones and minimal mascara, and adding a soft flush of cream blush to the cheeks. Lips are kept hydrated with tinted balms or nude shades, and the overall look emphasizes healthy, well-moisturized skin. This trend highlights simplicity and a polished yet effortless appearance. The Dressing Your Truth Store has the perfect lineup of products to support you in achieving this natural, effortless look.
Does this trend favor Type 3 and how to make it work?
Minimal makeup can absolutely work for a Type 3! As a Type 3, we appreciate things that are swift and easy, and makeup is no exception. We often prefer a more natural, outdoorsy look over a heavily made-up appearance. Plus, with the rich texture and dynamic movement in our faces, especially as we age, less makeup can actually complement our natural features, allowing our skin’s texture to shine through. I recommend using our Lifting and Firming Face Primer underneath a lighter foundation to create a smoother light foundation application.
Any secondary Type considerations?
- Type 3/1 – To keep the look lively, consider adding a pop of brightness, like a fresh, light lip color or a bit of shimmer on your eyes.
- Type 3/2 – Lean into a delicate, muted blush or subtle eye makeup for a natural look.
- Type 3/4 – Focus on bold, defined elements like a rich eyeliner and a rich lip color to make a statement, while keeping the rest of the look simple and natural.
What keywords are important to remember for this trend? Practical, Natural
2. Played-Up Eyes
The “played-up eyes” trend emphasizes making the eyes the focal point of the makeup look, often with bold and dramatic effects. The spring trend had us playing with colorful eyeliners, this fall we’re moving back to basic black or brown liners, but playing up the movement created around the eyes. This trend includes smokey eyes, winged liners, and thick and voluminous lashes to create a striking and eye-catching appearance. The focus is on creating a high-impact look that draws attention to the eyes and allows for artistic expression and experimentation.
Does this trend favor Type 3 and how to make it work?
The “played-up eyes” trend naturally harmonizes with Type 3 movement as we have exotic eyes we want to play up for a more dramatic expression. To make it work, emphasize textured, angular looks with smoky eyes or winged liners using our rich brown colors, and choose volumizing mascara to enhance your dynamic, exotic eyes and bring that substantial, high-impact presence to your makeup.
Any secondary Type considerations?
- Type 3/1: To keep the look fun and lively, consider incorporating a shimmer or a playful flick into your eyeliner.
- Type 3/2: Opt for a more blended, smoky eye with gentle gradients and avoid harsh lines.
- Type 3/4: Focus on crisp, defined lines like a sleek cat-eye, and choose polished, high-impact lashes.

3. Deep Lips
The “deep lips” trend focuses on bold, rich lip colors that make a strong statement. Last year the fall lip color was all about red, in 2024 we’re seeing the color options expanding to include more dark, intense shades such as berries, plums, and browns… and our color of the season “black cherry”. Deep lip colors can be applied in various finishes, from matte to glossy, and are often paired with minimal eye makeup to keep the focus on the lips. This trend embraces a classic, high-impact aesthetic, perfect for making a confident impression and adding a touch of elegance to any look.
Does this trend favor Type 3 and how to make it work?
The “deep lips” trend perfectly suits Type 3’s rich and dynamic energy, as it embraces substantial, statement-making color. Deep, textured shades like bronze or black cherry add intensity and strength to your look. To balance “played up” eyes, keep the lip color substantial but clean—choose a matte finish or a smooth gloss that complements the drama of your eye makeup without competing for attention. This allows both features to shine in harmony.
Any secondary Type considerations?
- Type 3/1 – Consider going for a glossy finish or a slightly brighter shade within the black cherry family to keep the look fresh and playful while still embracing your substantial Type 3 energy.
- Type 3/2 – Opt for a deep black cherry color in a matte finish, which adds a touch of gentleness while maintaining a substantial, rich tone.
- Type 3/4 – Go for a precise application in a matte finish in a strong, deep shade like black cherry to create a sleek, polished look that feels refined and substantial.

1. Cut: Just Below the Chin Bob
This year we’re seeing the shaggy textured lob from 2023 get cleaned up. A box-shaped chop with blunt ends, clean lines, and little to no layers is the cut of choice this season. Creating a sleek, versatile look this length is flattering for various face shapes and can be styled in multiple ways, from straight and polished to soft waves or curls. It offers a modern, sophisticated appearance while being low-maintenance compared to longer styles. The bob just below the chin strikes a balance between the classic bob and longer cuts, providing a fresh update to traditional hairstyles.

Big hair is back, and bigger than ever! If you feel like you’re headed straight back to the 80’s, you’re right! The “big hair” trend is all about bold, voluminous hairstyles that make a dramatic statement. Achieving this look involves techniques like backcombing, teasing, and using volumizing products to add significant lift and fullness. Textured waves or curls are often created with styling tools like curling irons or rollers, enhancing the hair’s body and bounce. Layering adds movement and prevents a flat appearance. To maintain the look, regular touch-ups and specific products are essential. Overall, the trend celebrates hair’s potential for volume and texture, offering a vibrant and memorable style.
