“Purses have never been something I have enjoyed wearing or using. Is that a Type 1 trend? Or is that me being a Type 1 with a secondary 4, and my minimalist secondary comes in? I do think your secondary is going to lead out in the size of the bag you want to use as your purse. For the most part, I believe Type 1’s are going to love being able to have all the possibilities with them. Need…? Yup, I have those! So some Type 1s may love to have a larger purse to accompany them. BUT Type 1s also love to be light and free! So if a bigger bag is liked, it needs to be a light fabrication! For me, and my fellow minimalist Type 1s. A small purse that has only what we need is perfect. I usually only even take my phone, which has my cards attached in the case with me, leaving the purse at home.”

“Over the years I have minimized the size of my purse and what I carry in it. I didn’t enjoy carrying around a lot of stuff so I downsized. I have a small clutch that holds only a slim wallet (with credit cards, my driver’s license, and a few bills), chapstick, lipstick, and my phone. It’s pretty empty but it works for me because I have thought through my needs and organized it differently now. For example, I used to carry hand lotion, tissues, and gum in my purse. Now I keep those in the glove compartment of my car. I’m also really relaxed about not having something I need. No biggie, I’ll just do without until I get home.”

“I like handbags and thinking about writing his article I realized that I use my handbag like a briefcase! I am adding, and removing items depending on the activity I am off to! I even have an accessories bag I throw in at times for travel, or car trips that has “everything but the kitchen sink” in it. My handbag must hold my laptop in an upright position. I like to carry my purse in my hand which is another reason I prefer a handbag. If I am running errands, I will just grab my wallet and phone and leave my handbag in the car in a safe location.”

“It’s been over ten years since I’ve regularly used a standard-sized purse. I think it started when my oldest was little and I was carrying around a diaper bag. I didn’t want to stock all my necessities in the diaper bag, I wanted to be able to switch between different bags easily with minimal effort. I consolidated all the items I needed regularly into a wristlet and never looked back. The size allows me to be agile and creates a boundary for the amount of items I can carry around.”
