Embrace Your Type 1 Playfulness (Even as an Adult): Q&A with the Experts

Careers, correct colors, and coping with negativity on social media.

Yep, this event was full to the brim with great conversations.

Your Type 1 Experts are so enjoyable to watch as they answer your emailed and live questions. So grab a glass of sweet tea and settle in for an hour of fun with Jaleah and Stephanie!

Here is just a sample of the questions they received:

  • My career involves helping people who are sick. It feels heavy and makes me anxious. Are some careers just not right for some Types?
  • I’m a Type 1/4 and get bored with things quickly. I’d like help being content with my current situation.
  • Is it possible for a Type 1 to not have a clear secondary?
  • When interacting with others, how do you know if you’re acting in your own energy or adapting to theirs?
  • I’m a very busy mom. How do you add fun to your life when you have no extra time to schedule activites?
  • How can I cope with all the negativity that we see on social media?
  • How do I remain light and playful when my secondary energy feels more like the adult?
  • How does a Type 1 handle expressing strong opinions?

You’ll be smiling right along with these two as they delve deeper into some of these questions and support you with different perspectives and personal stories.

Type 1’s who are still determining their secondary Energy Type will especially appreciate Jaleah and Stephanie’s tips about this topic.

  1. This was great! Very helpful to hear more about the secondary influences, it has really helped me feel more confident with my secondary 4 assessment. I now better understand why I am constantly wanting to buy new clothes and makeup, because I love the variety and new-ness. I guess I already knew that but hearing you talk about it just made the lightbulb go off. My husband is a Type 4 and I had been trying to be more like him to have a simpler, smaller wardrobe, but it just is not honoring of my true nature. I won’t let my secondary 4 analyze that behavior so much anymore =) You ladies are a delight and really lightened up my day! Thank you!!! <3

  2. Yes! Discovering my secondary was a click lightbulb moment. I knew it was a lower movement and I thought it was S4, though I kept doubting if I was a T1/S4 or a T4/S1. Some of the things that were leaning towards S2 was my preference for soft over structure. I will choose a cardigan over a blazer every time. I like a bit of flow. But the lightbulb was actually talking with my best friend (something I know Carol recommends against!), I asked her if my face was round yet symmetrical, or if it was symmetrical yet round. She looked at me straight on for a bit and said “your face isn’t symmetrical” and that was the click. Suddenly I could see the distinct S2 all over the place. I could clearly see the S2 “attention to details” and that I was mistaking it for a S4 “perfecting”. I could see in my wardrobe choices that the S2 items were the ones I chose again and again, that I felt comfortable in, vs. the S4 items that I never chose and they felt restrictive and stiff.

Of course as a dominant T1 I second guess and doubt at least once a week on if I’m not another type, but it always comes back to a peace within when I embrace T1/S2.

    1. Thanks, Kate, your words verbalised what I had sensed about my being S2 rather than S4, – “attention to details …… mistaking it for a S4 “perfecting””. I’ve only recently realised I’m S2 not S4 – so freeing!

  3. I really enjoyed this so very much! Stephanie is such a wonderful addition to the DYT team. I am a 2/1 and her 1/2 nature really does resonate with me in many ways. I appreciate her detailed answers and her gentle and light energy. I am so grateful DYT has added more of this energy combination:)

    1. Yeah Susan! This is Kathy from Carol’s support team. We are so excited about this event and to see you there! Please let us know if you have any questions!

  4. Thanks ladies.. Loved watching you both and reinforcing my secondary oneness.. You are both such a joy to watch and it is both pleasurable and informative to see how much the secondary of each of you shapes your movement…Appreciate all the insights given and wisdom shared.. Taking a page from one of the people commenting, I guess I am part elephant, part unicorn. ; ))))))))

  5. I LOVE this episode! I’m a 1/4 and I get stuck between alone time and social time.. when I need to be alone but also need to honor my social needs like learning through other people, or by social interaction, I just put on one of these videos and clean out a drawer, drink tea, float around in my own world 🙂 with no specific plan 🙂

  6. I have had A LOT of healing to do and have been on this path – as well as a DYT member – for 18 months now. It wasn’t until this week that I truly discovered my secondary. I thought I was a secondary 2 for about a month, then a secondary 4 for all of those months between, it really was like a light bulb turning on when I finally said to myself, “I am a type 1 secondary 3 and that’s amazing!” I’ve been making intentions every morning for a long time that I would be more true to myself and as God created me to be. As I have been living and loving my type 1ness more and more, my secondary became more and more obvious as well. It’s so freeing and beautiful! I’m so grateful for DYT & Lifestyle, without it I would still be trying to repress my dominant and secondary energies, getting anxious and depressed everyday instead of bright and joyful!!! 🙂 I love my life!! Thank you for all that you do to support us in being true to ourselves and loving ourselves more! For anyone still struggling to be sure of your secondary, try to be patient with yourself and focus on your dominant as much as possible, you’ll know it when you know it and it will be beautiful when it happens. It is well worth the time it takes and completely incredible when you do it for yourself in your own time. 🙂

  7. I’m not an “Ohmer” meditator… I run a guided meditation once per week in my community… SO HAPPY to have Stefanie with Jaleah, as I’m a T1/S2. I often don’t realize I’ve adapted myself to others until after, but I often ‘hand them back’ whatever and only keep my own energy. I doubt by Type 1 probably once a day… but know that this is just showing me who I am and I only discovered/settled on my S2 this week and that was because of a comment made by someone after a Lifestlye tutorial saying, I realized my tendency to correct punctuation and grammar wasn’t a Type 4 perfection thing but rather a Type 2 attention to details thing… I went, “Bingo! Aha!” And now it just ‘falls’ into place as my doodling always shows stars and hearts and swirls and curves (Type 2)… Have been showing myself all along but I didn’t stop to notice. Better late than never!! PS: I’ve also noticed that for me, I’m never late! Ever! If I’m close to late, I’m anxious, and this is NOT Type 4 needing to be exact… It’s my Type 1/2 of not wanting the other person to be put out, keeping them happy and connected… I’d rather wait than have them wait for me. 😉 I could go on and on… Next time… <3 PS: Thank you, Jaleah and Stephanie (I have a Stefanie, T4 though). I'll stop – Promise! 😉
