  1. I have a question………..Are there any special washing instructions for clothing that has been altered with nail polish? I was wondering if it can come out in the wash. Thank you!

    1. As far as special washing instructions, there are no rules, but maybe a few recommendations. It may be helpful as a precaution, to turn the garment inside out so that the part being painted, like the jewels on a top shirt, or the rivets on pants don’t get bumped against the edge of the washer and get rubbed off. Nail polish is pretty sturdy unless it gets bumped or rubbed against a hard surface. Thank you for asking!

  2. I love my perfect T2 oval hoops painted with a grayed navy. I wear them every week, and they look great. Thanks for these tips, Michelle. You are my T2 inspiration.

  3. Thank you Michelle for this awesome video!! I have a pair silver earrings I love but were starting to turn green because of oxidation and I wear them often. I never thought to paint them with nail polish.

    1. Hi Tina. You’re very welcome! Isn’t it great? I’ve saved so many jewelry pieces using nail polish

    1. Jennifer, the only problem I’ve run into with larger pieces is brush strokes from the small nail polish brush (and it takes forever). You could use a larger fan brush and get better results. If the brush doesn’t fit inside the nail polish opening you could pour it out into a small container.

  4. This is so helpful! Thank you! My one question is this: Do you recommend using a clear top coat at the end?

    1. I’m glad you enjoyed it Maggie! I’ve never used a clear coat after, but if something is going to be getting a lot of wear or rubbing against your skin it would be a good idea to make sure it doesn’t get rubbed off.

  5. Thank you so much for these tips! All easy to apply! I have quite a few pieces of jewelry thatI haven’t worn since I discovered I’m a Type 1 but that I still love. I’ll soon start refashioning them and I’m quite looking forward to the results. Also great when you’re shopping and only find the “wrong” color of fashion jewelry 🙂

  6. thank you for the tips! i took and redid some of my jewelty right away.so happy now. so many colors.:)

  7. Finally got to see this without it buffering and I am so happy to have found it. I love your suggestions for the top that your daughter and you changed to make it something that she feels great to wear. I didn’t know I could use nail polish for doing that. I might now be able to save a few more tops I had thought would have to be removed from my T3 closet. Thank you. Love this and hope there are MORE segments with you doing more things – refashioning etc.

  8. Another question. I bought silver sunglasses frames before knowing about DYT and I would like to know if I could cover them over with nail polish and what gold or bronze would I use as a Type 3? Also I have them as mirror lens in a rich blue and the sides are in a rich T3 colour of a reddish brown. I can’t change the lens so need to compliment those with what colour I can paint with nail polish the front of the frames that are in a silver wire. Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated. Thank you.

    1. Vicki, type 3 is bronze golds so you would paint any silver a bronze gold. The blue lens will go fine as you cannot change them.

  9. Thanks, Michelle! I’ve used permanent marker (metallic) on buttons, but eventually the color wears off in the wash. I’m looking forward to trying nail polish.

  10. I love this! WHat are the colors besides the bronzy gold on the t-3? I’ll have to share what I did before watching this. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/220d09239336b6789627e243ba70b212ba7da617adcdd74ea29f0e64d557c730.jpg Both the burgundy triangle and burn orange circles were black, but I loved these t3 textured earring. I think I may need to sponge some texture onto the burgundy. Or leave it for my secondary 1. I could get that bronzy gold and sponge on top. Oh I love it!

  11. Can you put clothes in the washer and dryer that have buttons or other adornments painted with nail polish? Does the nail polish get soft and sticky in the dryer?

  12. Brilliant, Michelle, you are a genius! I have a lot of gold jewelry that I haven’t worn, even before DYT, because it just didn’t resonate with my. I can’t wait to refashion my pieces. Thank you.

  13. So glad I watched this today. I saw a GREAT pair of red ankle pants with zippers on the ankles. Hardware on top was silver and the zippers were GOLD! ACK. I didn’t get them because of it. I thought there’d be no way to change it. So happy.
